Colour Belt Grading
24th November, 2018
Congratulations to all students who passed the colour belt grading on 24th November.
​
Students grading were Darren Cartwright, Emma Fraser, Minnie Cartwright, Joseph Conway, Leland Hardy, Matilda Matthews, Jacob Richardson and Lindsay Matthews.
​
As always, delicious refreshments were provided by Helen Naylor, assisted by Lucy Hunt, all proceeds from which went towards club funds.

Southern England Championships - 6th October 2018


Launceston Tae Kwon-Do Gains Gold Again
On Saturday, 6th October, members of Launceston Tae Kwon-Do made the trip to Paignton to enter in the Southern Championships.
A fantastic effort was made by all, resulting in Tom Simpkins-Wright achieving Bronze (boys heavyweight sparring), Lowenna Barnes achieving Silver (red belt girls sparring), and John Titley, achieving Gold (men blue belt patterns).
Other competitors were James Naylor (2nd Dan and above black belt patterns) Nadine Wright, who came fourth (girl's red belt patterns) also making her sparring debut and linking up with Lowenna in the girl's tag team sparring, and John Titley (men's heavyweight sparring). Matilda Matthews (girl's yellow belt patterns) and Leland Hardy (boy's yellow belt patterns) competed in their very first competition and represented the club well.
Thanks to all the other members and family who came along in support and especially to Instructor Paul Bunn for his excellent teaching which has brought the club to this amazing standard, not to mention driving the minibus to get everyone there and back.
Colour Belt Grading September 2018


On Saturday, 1st September, Launceston Tae Kwon-Do held their colour belt grading, with ten students participating. A fantastic standard was achieved by all, with Lowenna Barnes, Leland Hardy and John Titley being awarded A passes. The Grading Trophy was achieved by Leland Hardy.
Grand Master Michael Dew, 9th Degree, Black Belt, Vice Chairman of the Tae Kwon-Do Association of Great Britain officiated.
Students who graded were, Lowenna Barnes (A pass), John Titley (A pass), Shelley Greenaway, Leland Hardy (A pass and Grading Trophy), Minnie Cartwright, Joseph Conway, Mathilda Matthews, Darren Cartwright, Emma Fraser and Kaitlyn Gerrard.
Thanks were given to the Black Belts of the club who gave up their Saturday morning to help out. Delicious refreshments were provided by Helen Naylor, assisted by Lucy Hunt, all proceeds of which were donated to club funds.

Gold for Launceston at the International World Championships!
On 21/22 July, 2018, the Tae Kwon-Do International World Championships were held at Arena Birmingham. Launceston Tae Kwon-Do entered seven contestants in the event who all represented the club fantastically well.
​
Lowenna Barnes brought home gold for the club as part of a three girl sparring tag team (11-14), and bronze for girls red belt sparring aged 11-14.
​
She got to the semi-final in the sparring for red belt girls, being beaten after a hard fought fight by a Polish opponent who went on to win the title.
​
However, in the girls tag team event, after a close match with Scottish opponents, Lowenna and her team brought home the gold medal.
Other competitors were, Nadine Wright (cadet girls red belt patterns 15-17), Donna Wadham (ladies red belt patterns), John Titley (men's green belt patterns and men's heavyweight sparring,) Jamie Hunt (cadet boys black belt patterns 15-17 and light heavyweight sparring), James Naylor (cadet boys black belt patterns 15-17 and heavyweight sparring) and Victoria Naylor (ladies black belt patterns).

Students who graded were, Minnie Cartwright, Joseph Conway, William Gribble, Leland Hardy, Mathilda Matthews, Angelika Pikulik, Olivia Slawinska, Luisa Andrade, John Titley (A pass), Nadine Wright (A pass and grading award winner), Chay Moran, Jacca Moran, Robert Pascoe and Vanda Inman.
Thanks were given to the Black Belts of the club who gave up their Saturday morning to help out. Delicious refreshments were provided by Helen Naylor, assisted by Lucy Hunt and Linda Moran, all proceeds of which were donated to club funds.

Welsh Championships
20th May 2018
​
On Sunday, 20th May, Launceston Tae Kwon-Do travelled the Welsh Championships in Cardiff, with twelve members competing in this major Tae Kwon-Do event.
The competition was of an extremely high standard with over a 1,000 competitors and well deserved awards were achieved by Tom Simpkins-Wright (Silver in Cadets' Heavyweight Sparring) and Lowenna Barnes (Bronze in Girls' Tag Team Sparring).
Well done and congratulations to all who entered!

Awards Night 23 February 2018

On Saturday 23rd February, Launceston Tae Kwon-Do held their annual Awards Night, a celebration of the past year, when awards were presented to a number of students.
Awards presented were, Senior Student, Mille Bunn; Junior Student, Joe Seeley; Most Improved Student, Olivia Slawinska; Students' Student, Jamie Hunt, and a new Award for Outstanding Achievement was presented to Helen Wright.
A voucher was given to Helen Naylor for running the Club Cafe at gradings, proceeds of which go towards club funds, and flowers to Vanda Inman for her work as Social Secretary. Members of the club and parents were delighted to present Instructor Paul Bunn with a voucher to show their appreciation of all the work and effort he has put into running the club and making it such a success.

Launceston Tae Kwon-Do Compete in South West Championships
On Sunday, 11th February, ten members from Launceston Tae Kwon-Do made the trip to Weston-Super-Mare to compete in the South West Championships, along with supporters from the club who went along to spectate.
The competition was of a high standard and Awards were achieved by, Annabel Barnes (Bronze Award in Ladies' Black Belt Sparring), John Titley (Silver Award in Men's Yellow Belt Pattern) and Lowenna Barnes (Gold Medal in girls' tag team sparring).
​
Well done to everyone who competed and those who went along to spectate.

On 25th November, Launceston Tae Kwon-Do was delighted to see two students receive their Black Belt certificates. At their latest grading , Helen Wright and Tom Simpkins-Wright, were presented with their certificates by Master Michael Dew, 8th Degree, Black Belt, Vice Chairman of the Tae Kwon-Do Association of Great Britain.
